Everyone will find something suitable from gentle walks to peak climbs. Nature is particularly impressive, with its imposing mountains, clear wonderful mountain lakes and the breathtaking panoramic views.
Not to mention the cosy alpine huts, which entice you in for a snack or a schnapps or two.
Sölk Valleys Nature Park
The Sölk Valleys Nature Park, whose unspoiled landscape stretches over an area of 277 km² over the most beautiful peaks of the Niedere Tauern spannt, consists of the Large and Small Sölk Valleys.
The Large Sölk Valley with its wonderful panoramic road, the Sölk Pass, was the most important trade route over the Tauern range in Roman times. The Small Sölk Valley is the ideal starting point for relaxing hikes to alpine villages and to the jewels of the Alps, the tranquil and mysterious mountain lakes.
Numerous gushing waters create the accompanying music on walks along the beatuifully constructed water trails. But also in the forests, on the alpine pasture and mountain the hiker is accompanied by the various sounds of water.
The centrepiece of the Nature Park are the many alpine huts open to the public in which in summer the traditional work and customs are on the daily agenday. Cattle, horses and sheep are literally on their summer holiday in the Sölk Valley mountains - to the joy of the hiker and visitor, who can enjyo the fresh milk, butter, bread and Styrian cheese.
Hiking , exploring and understanding nature, taking time to stop in an alpine hut, listening to the water melodies, discovering flowers and enjoying a diverse forest and mountain landscape.
